rise and shine

God said when I woke up this morning 11/11/09 "Rise and shine for the glory of the Lord has
risen upon you." I thought that it was cool, but I looked into this deeper:

--> Here is the verse: Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

I like the verses that come before that one:
Isaiah 59:19-21
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising

of the sun. When the enemy shall come in; Like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift

up a standard against him.

20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in

Jacob, saith the LORD.

21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon

thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor

out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from

henceforth and for ever.

(I believe these verses do not disconnect with the next chapter.)

Isaiah 60:2-5
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but

the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they

come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged;

because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles

shall come unto thee.

verse 2 is just like the world today. It is so dark out there. Hope is gone. Sin rules
many people. The Lord gives the redeemed of the Lord hope, peace, and joy. He has
promised that his glory would be upon us, making us shine. It is a visual vibrance because
the end of the verse says, "...his glory shall be seen upon thee."
The next verse says that gentiles and kings will be drawn to you. I personally can't wait
until important people, lost people, hungry people, and those who don't know Christ are coming to me because I shine like a light.

Here is a verse in Proverbs about the glory being placed upon us:
4:9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. (Note: She is wisdom)

Arise and Shine

Ephesians 5:14 Wherefore he saith, awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing...the earth shall cast out the dead.

Daniel 12: 2-3
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.KJV

I believe that we are talking about the new Jerusalem in these verses. This new revelation gets me thinking that "Arise, Shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon thee." is for after Jesus' return. We will have new bodies. Maybe, the glory can be seen because of our new bodies and eyes.

I decided to look up the word for glory in the dictionary, and I highlighted the words that struck me. (Note: "Copious" in the definition is like abundant.)

I enjoyed reading this commentary on the verse:

http://www.foundationsforfreedom.net/References/OT/Prophets/Isaiah/Isaiah60.1-5_ShiningLight.html

especially this verse that was referenced:

"Not as a result of works, that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."(Ephesians 2:9,10, NASB).

I would like to quote it to myself.
